Stylish football has always been expected at White Hart Lane with Barclaycard Premiership success also high on the agenda for Spurs.

PREMIER LEAGUE PERFORMANCE
The North London outfit have brought a galaxy of stars to the F.A. Premier League and inspired fans with some flamboyant and exciting football. The signing of German striker Jurgen Klinsmann from Monaco in 1994 paved the way for many of the league's top foreign imports. The striker was sorely missed when he departed for Bayern Munich after just a single season at White Hart Lane. After Swiss manager Christian Gross suffered a nightmare 10 months in charge of the club, former Arsenal boss George Graham entered the scene in 1998. The Scot earned Spurs' only trophy of the F.A. Premier League era, the 1999 League Cup. League success was proving more difficult to achieve for Graham and the club turned to one of its favourite sons in 2001 as Glenn Hoddle took charge with the promise of a new era of stylish football. The arrivals of Robbie Keane and Jamie Redknapp, followed by Helder Postiga and Freddie Kanoute, boosted optimism among the supporters. However, in September 2003, Hoddle was sacked after a poor start to the Barclaycard Premiership season and the search began for a new leader at the Lane.
